Unter gewissen Voraussetzungen sind Kinderbetreuungskosten als Sonderausgaben absetzbar. Begünstigt sind 2/3 der Aufwendungen (maximal 4.000 EUR pro Kind). Das Finanzministerium Schleswig-Holstein hat nun klargestellt, dass auch Aufwendungen für die Unterbringung in einem Internat abziehbar sind. Aufwendungen für Unterricht, die Vermittlung besonderer Fähigkeiten sowie sportliche und andere Freizeitbetätigungen sind hingegen nicht berücksichtigungsfähig. Gegebenenfalls ist eine Aufteilung der Aufwendungen vorzunehmen.
Aufwendungen für den Aufenthalt in einem Ferienlager sind nicht als Kinderbetreuungskosten abziehbar, da es sich um eine Freizeitbetätigung handelt.
